I am currently working on a 3D version of the Shoot_it logo where the typography will be extruded on a simple z axis while the shapes on the background will be transformed onto three-dimensional objects retaining their original faces and extruded to different depths.
Today I just had the first attempt to play with probably the most difficult letter of the shoot_it logo, S. It does seem to be a bit of a nightmare, especially if you are trying to make it really accurate and nicely glued together.
Working on a computer version of the composition, I set up a first mock-up of the different objects and arranged them randomly. The result does seem to be a very interesting tool that can definitely expand to various uses for photography or stop-frame animation so although I was kind of disappointed after the initial test, it did work as a great push for not giving up.

I will be posting the progress of all this and hopefully one day the final product!
Here are some other vaguely related posts and links. (1, 2, 3, 4)
